shadowfalls
another classic example of me naming the song before it’s written. not a damn clue what this song is really about. sometimes I think I invent these three-and-a-half minute relationships just so I can write a song about them. there is definitely a current of me wishing someone back at JMU cared enough about me to beg me to stay, though. this song anchors Crisis of Location in choppy waters of catchy-bastardry and art-rock. or at least I wish it did. the little chatter at the beginning is Freeman talking about his cousin. not a damn clue how that found its way onto this track. I am quite proud of my secret Biblical reference towards the end, which is ACTUALLY APPLICABLE! Amazing.
if I could take you with me, would you?
if you smile for me, will I look? warn me
when your shadow falls over me
when your heart calls, will it mention me?
and when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
and when the sap leaks, can we rinse it off?
I mean to stay here till we both wash away in the rain
I need a faithful window to your soul (crystal)
I ramble to get you to notice I see you
when your shadow falls over me
when your heart calls, will it mention me?
and when I see your eyes, you dig to my soul
and when you realize I’m about to go
I wish you’d stay here and beg me please to stay
so when your shadow falls over me
and when your heart calls, will it mention me?
and when my love breaks, my spirit will fall
and what my tears make is a pillar of salt
I wish you’d stay here, then come back around again
this song is pointless
romantic, but hopeless
