excellent! a song I wrote that’s not about some stupid girl. ‘so it goes’ is the transfer song, even though none of the places mentioned in the song are involved in that particular journey. “Elizabeth” is not a person, it’s the river in Norfolk. ME, is of course, the postal abbreviation for Maine (one of my favorite places on Earth). The Embarcadero is a district/street in San Francisco. Launch sig, for great justice.
taken downtown on a whim tonight
Elizabeth speaks and reflects the city lights
he breathes the air and brings himself to life
he leaves his car and swims to the other side
and in the careful silence he finds
a need for travel invades his mind
and if he goes, he’ll never rewind
oh, so it goes
waking up slow on an ME cliffside
the buses creak and drag the sun to rise
he cleans his scrapes and rubs his red and tired eyes
he blinks and stares in disbelief
the ocean sweeps him off his feet
riding a bike down Embarcadero
the summer winter in his heart
he flies as crooked as an arrow
and wanders towards back to where he started
he loses track of his direction
he wonders where might he belong
he’s mindful of our last suggestion:
“just find the place where you’re least wrong”
